It’s no mystery that a lot of animation still happens here in the Los Angeles area, with some of the great studios right here in our neighborhood. Last month, Animation Magazine hosted their second annual conference celebrating the process of animation with panel discussions lead by some of our local heroes.
The panelists weren’t the only stars on hand, as many of the attendees were leading industry professionals who came to Marina del Rey, CA to talk shop and enjoy the scenic views of the California Yacht Club.
The topics discussed ranged from animation and VFX feature film to workflow/pipeline best (or favorite) practices.
Cantina Creative’s Stephen Lawes talks about the diverse variety of tools needed to create visual effects, the evolution of his Adobe pipeline and integration of MAXON’s C4D. Looking on, Jason Beirut talks about the use of ToonBoom’s Harmony in Disney’s 2D pipeline.
The opening night’s party celebrated AnimationMagazine’s Lifetime Achievement / Hall of Fame Award recipients June Foray, John Knoll, Tapaas Chakravarti, Seth Green, John Harvatine IV, Matthew Senreich, Eric Towner, Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco.
